We've had many cases involving Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, which is a severe reaction to a drug, and it can lead to sepsis, which is a systemic infection of the body. It can often lead to severe skin lesions that our clients have ended up in the burn unit. It can, in some unfortunate occasions, even lead to death, and it can lead to problems with vision as well. So this is a condition that arises usually as a result of a drug reaction.
We actually had a case where the family did report that this patient was allergic to a specific drug. Nevertheless, the hospital record said that there were no prior drug allergies, and this patient ended up in the burn unit and came close to death. Doctors will often say when this happens that it was an unfortunate drug reaction, but that's not the entire story. The question then becomes was a thorough history obtained from the patient regarding prior drug reactions, and was the medication timely withdrawn as soon as it should've been apparent that there wasn't this allergic reaction.
Due to our vast experience in handling these cases, we are uniquely qualified to represent patients who suffer from this condition.
